Sewing Teacher for vocational women´s training

The project is located in San José, Costa Rica.
This organization helps women to get out of prostitution and poverty by teaching them vocational skills like sewing, embroidery etc. They are always looking for new teachers who teach them new vocational skills to improve their working and living conditions.
Most women are illegal refugees from Nicaragua, single mothers with many children and depending on prostitution to survive. They are in desperate situations. This vocational training gives them hope to start a new future by teaching them professional skills that will facilitate finding a job or starting a small business. They participate in this 8 month program, where they earn their own sewing machine at the end.
If you are a skilled and passionate about sewing and crafts, this will be the perfect volunteering position which will have a life-changing impact on these women.
Passion for sewing, crafts etc.
Patience to teach even in very poor conditions
Be flexible, organized and willing to serve in our areas of greatest need
Prepared to invest some time in training before and during the placement
Willing to adapt and to be flexible to the local culture, food etc.
Willingness to learn basic Spanish
Willingness to work with a translator
Teaching art classes (sewing, embroidery, crafts etc.)
